Dedicated to the memory of Tom Ueber

UPDATE: 06/02/2024

Jenny, Klaus and the family would like to thank everyone for their messages of sympathy, flowers and donations.

"We really appreciate all the wonderful tributes to Tom's memory, as well as the hugs and food deliveries, without which this difficult time would have been very much harder. Our special thanks go to the funeral arranging group. Your contribution to the celebration of his life was invaluable. Tom would have been proud of you guys."

Tom, born in Chelmsford, Essex on January 3rd 1978, was a well loved, quirky, calming, lovable son, uncle and friend.

He was a constant in many of our lives, no matter where we were or what we did, Tom was always there.
It came as a great shock to us all, to learn of his passing.

Tom's family are understandably devastated, having tragically now lost both their children.

To allow the family time, whilst also allowing anyone wanting to share their kind words, memories, adventures, amusing anecdotes and stories, this family friendly site, dedicated to the legend that is Tom Ueber, was created.

As much as the family love the condolence flowers and gifts, please do consider donating to Cancer Research UK, the charity is very close to their hearts.

Many thanks all x

Thoughts

I remember his long hair, him turning up at the door to see Craig when he wasliving with us and also the phone calls... Asking how we were and what we were doing. Asking about the rest of the family too. He even phoned us when Craig was not there.. ha ha. Always caring. Bless him. He will be missed by so many xxx

Here is the poem/tribute I wrote for the funeral.. mostly memories of our years together living in Bristol, 2013-17, before moving to Devon. Tom poem They called him mellow yellow.... Donovan, Not Jason...nor the Jason doner(kebab) van...Tom introduced me...to the hurdy gurdy man! Similarly to just lazing on a sunny afternoon...the Kinks...that might be with a bbq, or on the roof top garden... Watching kites being flown up the downs, or a hot air balloon, Less being mad about saffron.. more gallenghal, lime leaves and lemon grass, for the most amazing Thai curry I've ever tasted, Maybe a bit of Ravi Shankar to play too. Gloucester road, amazing green grocers, 3 for a pound avocados..and an 'avocuddle' sign we somehow found warming, Browsing greater sounds, hardware stores, buying some random gnomes for the garden, A pit stop and pint at the Prince of Wales. Solar panel watering system for the green house, Home made bread...pancakes, pasta, sushi! Marinades, chilli growing, various horticulture projects and fermentations! Such practical, logical computing mind, spliced with amazing creativity, patience and perseverance. Quirky, easily amused, content, accepting, loving, kind... Sometimes a bit big Lebowski? The dude! A rug to tie the room together and a white russian, maybe with oat milk to avoid lactose! Dancing in the kitchen...or disco... 'bumper to bumper, wait a minute, wheres me jumper!' Smiling, fitting in, exploring...fun in the chinese supermarket, trying to guess at random stuff Exploring abroad, Skiathos by quad bike, felt like heaven. Mythos and little fishes on the beach, treasured memories. Picking up a hyena sounding puppy, sleeping in the hallway, 100% puppy love. Becoming friends, but still a huge part of life. Some conversations you don't expect to miss....'has Mylo had his worming tablets, was his poo ok at yours?' But today it's the sad goodbye...Auf wiedersehen. So grateful for being part of your journey and the times we shared, Tom. Like all of us gathered here today will probably be feeling. You'd have smiled and told us like Bob Marley did, 'dont worry..about a thing'... See you on the other side ♥

He was an amazing uncle. I remember from when I was a little toddler, him putting gift bows on my head at Christmas. I remember him having to rescue Mylo when he jumped over a big wall and Tom had to jump over too and nearly got stuck himself. I remember when we went for a walk in Wistman’s wood and looking at the clouds Tom said we might get a bit wet, only to end up soaked through to our underpants.
